SELECTED PROJECT / DESIGN & ANALYSIS

Overall buckle.

Design. Print. Analyze.

A two-part overall buckle, designed in 3D and printed as a prototype. The design combines a buckle body with a removable strap bar, with finite element analysis used to study its structural response.

Assembly design

Developed for a 35 mm strap, with a removable bar and recessed M3 fasteners.

Assembled and exploded CAD views of the two-part overall buckle, showing the body, removable strap bar, and recessed nut joint
CAD assembly and exploded views of the reinforced prototype.

Finite element analysis

A geometrically nonlinear model was used to examine stress concentrations and displacement under a 100 N pull.

Overall buckle FEA plot showing von Mises stress in MPa, displacement in mm, and slit-root stress detail for a 100-newton pull
Nonlinear FEA design study: stress, displacement, and slit-root detail. Select the plot to view the labels at full size.

The analysis identifies areas for further design development. This prototype study does not establish a validated load rating.
